Weekly Wool Market Report 14/11/07

Wool sales opened in Sydney and Melbourne yesterday with large gains across all types and microns. Fleece lines were generally between 50/80 cents dearer and skirtings 20/40 cents dearer, cardings and Crossbreds managed 10/15 cents rises. After the Aussie dollar fell approx 450/500 points from last Thursday it was a case of how big the jump would be and now exporters wait anxiously for Chinese buyers to follow the market which in US dollars terms have increased accordingly. Unless we see real demand follow the higher market the rise may be short lived for only a couple of days as exporters must hold their nerve and continue to buy and pay the inflated price levels.
